This idea came from my father although oddly enough, he is not very religious at all. But I welcomed the suggestion and crafted a Lady of Guadalupe Barbie doll. I chose a doll with a dark skin tone but she had a lot of shiny makeup that I had to remove to give her a more modest look. I had to change the head to a different body, I needed one with foldable arms for the praying position. The dress was not hard and for the shawl I placed sequins manually to simulate the stars. Then I made the sunny background. When I was done, I still felt something was missing and my husband suggested to make the black moon that is by the Guadalupe's feet. I completed the look creating the little angel who is at the bottom. Definitely one of my favorite Creations. (SOLD) |
